Sabi, the company that brought high design to the pill organizer and walking cane, is happy to announce that it will be showing its new product line, Sabi Space, a collection of wall-based storage and organization products for the bathroom, at this year’s KBIS.
KBIS marks the first appearance of the full Sabi Space catalog, after the line’s pre-launch at the 27th Annual International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in NYC in May, where Sabi Space was chosen among over 600 exhibitors to take the 2014 ICFF Editors Award for Best Kitchen and Bath.
Designed by MAP Project Office, London, a creative consultancy founded by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, Sabi Space is a bath collection featuring 13 pieces that are extraordinarily easy to install and adaptable to any space, giving everyone the freedom to curate the perfect bathroom.
MAP’s user-centered design approach, aimed initially at identifying product opportunities for older users, resulted in the creation of a multi-generational range that has wide appeal, particularly for the burgeoning rental sector.
Product design and assembly are largely centered around a universal Sabi Space Wall Mount, to which most pieces attach. In total, the collection is comprised of 13 items:
- Hold, a revolutionary circular grab/lean bar with multiple angles that make it easy and comfortable to grip anywhere, from any angle, for people of all different heights, with one or both hands;
- Hoop, a flexible, silicone ring that enables easy access to towels or other hanging items;
- Caddy, a multipurpose storage caddy with movable cup and hooks, perfect for holding shampoo and other shower bottles, and smaller items;
- Magnify, a magnifying hand mirror that attaches to a Wall Mount and can be set at any angle, or detached and held in the hand;
- Hooks (45cm and 60cm options), a bead-blasted aluminum rail with adjustable hooks;
- Rail, a bead-blasted aluminum rail for hanging towels;
- Shelf (45cm and 60cm options), floating shelves that lend themselves well to multiples;
- Pegs, a set of three cloakroom-style pegs for hanging objects;
- Mirror, a floating wall-mounted mirror;
- Hanger, a peg-and-hanger set ideal for hanging bathrobe or other large/heavy items; and
- Roll, a toilet paper roller that adds a pop of color to the bathroom
All products were designed to be compatible with future Sabi Space products and add-ons, giving customers virtually unlimited possibilities for redesigning their space at any time. Likewise, the products’ various color and finish options offer ultimate design flexibility, making renovating easy and fun.
Unlike traditional bathroom collections, Sabi Space utilizes modern materials, colors, clean lines, and soft edges, for a look and feel that’s cool and sleek and entirely contemporary.
Each product contains all materials necessary for installation including: unique 1:1 adhesive template (to position and reposition item on wall before installation), two installation options: high-strength, self-adhesive moisture resistant tape, or screw, and markedly easy-to-follow instructions.
“With Sabi Space we wanted to create a line of beautiful, easily customizable products that would give people a sense of empowerment when it came to designing or renovating their space. What better place to start than with the bathroom, a room which is notoriously challenging when it comes to organization and storage?” says Jon Marshall at MAP.
For Assaf Wand, founder of Sabi, the push behind Sabi Space was slightly different. “Existing home renovation solutions on the market occupy one of two categories: On the high end, they are geared exclusively toward professional renovators and home builders in search of full solutions for housing project series. On the low end are products for individuals that, while affordable, are also, by and large, crudely designed and low- quality,” says Wand, who founded the company in 2009 to bring design to day-to-day product categories in most desperate need of re-envisioning .“Sabi Space speaks both to professional builders and DIY’ers; it makes high design and flexibility accessible to everyone. There is simply nothing like this on the market.”
