With the holidays quickly approaching, many homeowners are looking for ways to spruce up their home to make family and friends feel more welcome when they come for an extended stay, or to help guests feel more welcome at their holiday party. While you may not have the time or budget for a whole-home makeover, there are a few “quick-fixes” that can be done with tile that won’t break the bank.
Holiday gatherings often center around food which naturally leads guests into the kitchen area. Make sure your kitchen is ready to shine by installing a new backsplash. You can coordinate your new backsplash with your current countertop, and modernize it by going with a larger size tile or a fun shape like our Jumbo Hex. If you have a large open wall above the countertops in your kitchen, consider taking the backsplash all the way to the ceiling for a contemporary and dramatic effect.
Freshen up your guest bathroom by adding a wainscot or feature wall of tile. These options are a great way to enhance the materials you already have in the space while adding visual interest. Products like our Cementine Black and White series, or our 3D series are fantastic options when you’re looking to create a visual impact with a feature wall. If you’re interested in a more classic design, consider creating a wainscot with rectangular tiles like our H-Line series or Calacatta Gold marble in a 4”x16” size.
If you have a fireplace in your home, now is a perfect time to update its façade! Not only will your guests swoon over your newly designed fireplace, but you’ll have the ideal backdrop for your holiday decorations! Depending on the style of your fireplace, you can be truly creative with your new design. Tile directly around the firebox, or take your tile to the ceiling to enhance the height of your room.
Either option will give your space a new dramatic look! Products like our 3-D Mesh Mount Stack are an excellent option when you’re looking for a way to bring texture and interest to your fireplace install.
Consider using small remnants of tile from your new install to create items that make guests feel even more welcome! If your install incorporated marble or another natural stone, you can create a custom cheese plate and lay out an arrangement of appetizers to greet guests. Use small or cut tiles to create coasters so your visitors have a place to set their drinks. And, if your guests will be staying overnight, make their morning routine seamless by providing a place to set hot curling irons or flat irons. You can use your leftover tile to make a one-of-a-kind, heat-resistant, styling station!
These quick and easy tile updates will spruce up your space just in time for Holiday Company, and make your guests feel right at home.
