Joleen Constantis
Principal Designer/OwnerVolumes of Space Inc.For more than 20 years, I've been helping homeowners create spaces that are not only beautiful, but also support the way they want to live. I believe great design goes far beyond selecting finishes and furnishings—it's about understanding your lifestyle, your goals, and how your home can better serve you every day.
My career began in the kitchen and bath industry, where I developed a strong foundation in space planning, functionality, and construction. Over the years, I've earned multiple certificates through the National Kitchen and Bath Association and am qualified by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing to design for the public under the Ontario Building Code (BCIN #27755). I continue to stay current with evolving design standards, industry innovations, and emerging trends through ongoing education and professional development.
In 2012, I took the leap into entrepreneurship and later incorporated Volumes of Space Inc. with a simple belief: every project deserves thoughtful, intentional design. Whether you're building, renovating, or simply reimagining a space, my role is to guide you through the process, helping you make confident decisions and avoid costly mistakes along the way.
I work closely with a trusted network of skilled craftspeople and contractors to ensure every detail is executed with care. My clients often tell me that what they value most is not just the final result, but the experience of having a knowledgeable partner who listens, advocates, and helps bring clarity to what can often feel like an overwhelming process.
At the end of the day, my goal is simple: to help you create a home that reflects who you are, supports how you live, and inspires how you want to live in the future.

…In an era of Pinterest boards, AI-generated design concepts, and endless product choices, homeowners have more inspiration than ever before—yet many still struggle to create homes that genuinely support how they live. Too often, design projects begin with finishes, fixtures, and floor plans before identifying the lifestyle goals that should be driving every decision.
This interactive workshop introduces a human-centered framework that helps designers uncover what clients truly need beyond aesthetics. Participants will learn how to facilitate meaningful discovery conversations, identify the habits and values shaping daily life, and translate those insights into functional, personalized design solutions.
Through guided exercises and real-world examples, attendees will experience the same process used to help clients move from overwhelm and uncertainty to clarity and confidence. Participants will leave with practical tools they can immediately implement to create more meaningful client relationships, improve project outcomes, and design homes that support the lives people want to live.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Learn techniques for uncovering clients' lifestyle priorities, values, and long-term goals before developing design solutions.
- Develop strategies for moving clients beyond inspiration images to identify what truly matters in their daily lives.
- Apply a structured discovery framework that improves decision-making and reduces project revisions.
- Translate lifestyle insights into functional kitchen, bath, and whole-home design solutions.
- Create a more client-centered design process that increases satisfaction, trust, and project success.

WHY THIS TOPIC MATTERS NOW
The design industry is experiencing a shift. While technology and AI have made design inspiration more accessible than ever, clients are increasingly overwhelmed by options and disconnected from what they truly need. Designers who can facilitate clarity, guide decision-making, and create spaces rooted in lifestyle rather than trends will deliver greater value and stronger project outcomes. This workshop equips professionals with the tools to lead that conversation.
