Available in Two Styles by Renowned Modernist Designer Alexander Girard
SCOTTSDALE, AZ— Schwinn Hardware, the renowned designers and manufacturers of architectural-grade cabinet hardware for residential and commercial projects, has announced the addition of house numbers by renowned modernist architect and designer Alexander Girard as part of its Schwinn Originals collections of licensed product designs from internationally recognized architects and product designers.
The house numbers by Girard are available in two styles: “Alphabet” with an Iron Gray background and Gray White number in a modern font, and “Loop” featuring numbers in Pure White in a whimsical font with a curlicue flourish on an Oxide Red background. Both styles are constructed of steel, enamel and stainless steel with dimensions of 150mm x 150 mm that protrude 30 mm from the wall. Both are fully recyclable and meet RoHS Standards.
Alexander Girard (1907-1993) was one of the leading figures of postwar American design. Trained as an architect, Girard made a name for himself in the fields of furniture, exhibition, interior and graphic design, but was perhaps most well-known for his textiles, as he was the founding director of the Herman Miller Textile Division, a post he held from 1952-1973. A master of color, both bold and subtle, Girard injected the postwar period with much needed warmth and humanity.
All Schwinn Originals are licensed reproductions based on original examples or drawings of the designs. Each piece in the Schwinn Originals collection combines beauty and usefulness in a unique way. The language of design and architecture is constantly changing and evolving. The best work however is timeless. That timeless quality is what unites the diverse pieces in the Schwinn Originals collection. Careful modifications to scale, dimensions or material were only made when necessary because of changes in use, material, manufacturing technology, or industry standards. The 13 designers were carefully chosen as representatives of Schwinn Hardware’s dedication to the design of timeless hardware that is functional yet minimally invasive.
