MARKETNET FIRST-TIME APPEARANCE AT KBIS 2015 BRINGS BENEFITS OF SPIFFS TO DESIGNERS, SHOWROOMS AND EXHIBITORS TO THE SHOW FLOOR

Dec 11, 2014

For the first time ever, MARKETNET Division of Interline Creative Group, Inc., one of the most successful spiff administration companies in the country, will be exhibiting at this year’s KBIS Show in Las Vegas on January 20-22 at Booth S4105 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, offering attendees and exhibitors alike the opportunity to talk spiffs.

“Spiffs are one of the few ways people have of differentiation that work,” says Jim Nowakowski, President of MarketNet Division, Interline Creative Group, Inc., “and we wanted to bring our experience to the show floor because the benefits apply to both manufacturers and the designers and showrooms they want to reach. Besides, there is a lot of misconception about a spiff. Many people think it’s just dishing out money. It’s not – when you run it right.”

MarketNet Division of Interline Creative Group, Inc. has been administrating spiffs for the past 15 years, and according to Nowakowski, is not your typical card-candy organization. “The typical program usually is comprised of giving away debit cards, or points for buying or specifying something, which while useful, doesn’t fully engage the players or benefit them,” Nowakowski explains. “Cash speaks louder, but without the personal interface between the players, you might as well not do anything. Our differentiation is in the data.”

Nowakowski says his company has managed some of the most successful programs in the B2B space. “Several years ago, we were awarded top prize in Loyalty programs by Colloquy Magazine, the leading publication in loyalty programs for our work in professional builder/contractor marketplace,” he points out. “Our programs continue to be the preferred way to run these spiff, and we carry a 99.8% approval rating from the showrooms, designers and manufacturers we serve.”

Nowakowski would not disclose the manufacturers his company works for, as much of the information generated is proprietary, “But you will find them on the show floor here at KBIS. We’re here to support them, and to connect with the many designers and showrooms we serve on their behalf. It’s very exciting.”

According to Nowakowski, people think that spiffs are simply about the money or points rewards, but that’s not true. “The real benefits are in the data provided, which is why most programs fail over the long term because they don’t focus on the data,” he says. “We use data to bring the buyers and sellers closer together, making it a win-win. It really works, but it needs that personal touch.”

Besides, he points out, even a spiff can be a differentiator. “We recently lost a proposal because the manufacturer said that everyone else in their industry was using debit cards, so cash spiffs were out of the question. That’s clearly a mistake,” he added, “because now they are just another card on the table. Where is the difference in the mind of the showrooms they serve?”

MarketNet developed their spiff philosophy many years ago when a client asked them for help. “It wasn’t our core competency, but we are in the business of providing for our clients’ needs,” Nowakowski says. “Since we didn’t know what not to do, we developed a program over time that not only turned out to be best-in-class…we made the mistakes you need to make in order to refine it to what it is today. That’s what we’ll be talking about in our Booth at KBIS in 2015.”
