Interview Opportunity: Going Green in the Home

Feb 5, 2014

WHAT:

Each year in the United States, nearly 34 million tons of food waste is trucked to landfills. Once there, it quickly decomposes and produces methane, an environmentally harmful greenhouse gas. While composting provides one approach to tackling America’s food waste management challenge, it isn’t always practical for today’s busy lifestyle.

InSinkErator is the world’s largest manufacturer of food waste disposers, a product that has been National Green Building Standard (NGBS)-certified since 2009. Food waste disposers provide a convenient and environmentally friendly alternative to transporting leftovers to landfills. Plus, capable wastewater treatment plants can even recycle food scraps into energy and fertilizer.

WHO:

Dave MacNair, Vice President of Global Marketing and Strategic Development at InSinkErator, is available for interviews and can demonstrate InSinkErator’s food waste disposers, which will be on display in InSinkErator’s booth at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS). Michael Keleman, Environmental Engineer, is also available to answer questions.

INTERVIEW TOPICS:

-How cities like Philadelphia are saving millions of dollars and helping the environment by encouraging use of disposers

-How InSinkErator’s Grind2Energy organics recycling system is helping hotels, educational and medical facilities, chain grocery stores and sporting venues like the Cleveland Browns’ FirstEnergy Stadium turn food waste into renewable energy while reducing emissions, odors, pests and labor issues

WHEN:

Tuesday, February 4-Thursday, February 6, 2014: 9:00am – 5:00pm

WHERE:

KBIS Booth #N3137

Las Vegas Convention Center, 3150 Paradise Road, Las Vegas, NV 89109
