InSinkErator® Introduces Disposer Series Focused on Consumer Needs

Re-focused line of top-quality food waste disposers clarifies features, showcases value

Racine, Wis. – Jan. 21, 2020 – InSinkErator®, a business unit of St. Louis-based Emerson Electric Co., has introduced a series system for its products to help consumers better understand the features of the Company’s iconic food waste disposers, while reminding everyone that using a garbage disposal is a small change in their routine that can lead to a big change in their kitchens, communities and environment.

The disposer line is now categorized into the Standard Series, providing rugged construction in a dependable and economical package; the Power Series provides even more powerful performance, greater durability and innovative design; and finally, the Quiet Series, the pinnacle of residential disposer technology. The Quiet Series are the quietest and most innovative food waste disposers available.

“Our customers knew that InSinkErator disposers are the best in the business,” said Joe Dillon, President of InSinkErator. “Organizing the line to better showcase the design features and product benefits makes finding the right product for your kitchen and lifestyle easier and more intuitive.”

Features of the three lines include:

Standard Series

InSinkErator’s high standards of durability are applied to every disposal that leaves our door. The Standard Series disposals have been available on the market since the 1960’s, and have been installed in over 60 million homes around the world; updated regularly with durable, high quality materials that earn the InSinkErator name. The Standard Series feature ⅓ and ½ HP Dura-Drive® induction motors and come with a 1-3 year limited warranty with free in-home service.

Power Series

Power Series disposals provide additional grind capability and horsepower, alleviating worries about what you are grinding and what is happening in your pipes. This is especially valuable for consumers in older homes with smaller pipes, or on septic systems. We improved on virtually every component of the Standard Series to create our Power Series disposers, which has culminated in the creation of our new Power Series Badger 1.0HP disposer.  The Power Series feature ¾ and 1 HP Dura-Drive® induction motors and come with a 6-7 year limited warranty with free in-home service.

Quiet Series

Quiet Series models apply lessons we’ve learned over 80 years to provide a high caliber product that outperforms.  Enjoy superior performance with advanced noise reduction, allowing you to hold a conversation in your kitchen while your disposal is running. Multi-Grind Technology offers powerful performance with different stages of grind to enable the processing of more difficult food waste such as bones. The Quiet Series feature 3/4 and 1 HP Dura-Drive® induction motors and come with a 7-10 year limited warranty with free in-home service.

All three series are designed, invented and assembled in the USA and showcase our long-lasting HP Dura-Drive® induction motors with jam preventing torque, Quick Lock® mounts to make installation easy, and our We Come To You® limited warranty.

For every user, an InSinkErator disposer makes family life a little easier – including those on septic. It makes the kitchen easier to clean up, and can keep household garbage to a minimum by keeping food waste out of the trash. Keeping food waste out of the trash also keeps unwanted odors to a minimum. And InSinkErator makes the quietest disposers available, keeping disruptions at a whisper.

InSinkErator Continues to Drive Category Thought Leadership

You probably don’t spend much time thinking about garbage, but as experts in food waste, we think about it a lot. Garbage is a big problem—we generate about four and a half pounds of trash per person, per day here in the U.S. By 2021, only 15 years of landfill capacity will remain in the US. While there’s no single solution for reducing the world’s waste, even the little things we do can have an important impact on the environment—like using an InSinkErator® garbage disposal to keep your food waste out of landfills.

InSinkErator disposers can make a difference at the local landfill. In fact, in the average family, over 20% of municipal trash is food waste. Using a disposer to process food waste as opposed to throwing it into the trash is a small change in behavior that can have a big impact on the family, community and ultimately, the environment. An InSinkErator disposer can grind away almost all food waste, keeping them out of your local landfill which limits the creation of methane gas, a harmful pollutant proven to accelerate climate change. Once ground food waste arrive at the local wastewater treatment plant, many municipalities are able to process this organic waste into renewable energy to power the plant, and agricultural fertilizer to grow more food.

The difference the small act of using a disposer can make is enormous. When a community of 30,000 households grinds its food waste in a disposal instead of sending it to landfills, it has the same positive effect on greenhouse gas emissions as planting 31,435 trees. If the food waste is diverted to biogas production, it can create enough electricity to power 322 homes for an entire year.

InSinkErator has long been at the forefront of reducing organic waste channeled to landfills. “Since 1938, InSinkErator disposals have diverted about 80 million tons of food waste from landfills,” said Dillon. “Annually, we help reduce methane gas emissions by more than seven million tons—that’s the equivalent of keeping more than a million cars off the road.”
