Exhibitor Spotlight: Cabinetry Technologies

Oct 13, 2014

According to The Research Institute for Cooking & Kitchen Intelligence, clean and transitional styling lead the look for kitchen renovation projects. In that effort, cabinet manufacturers are quickly responding to specifier needs by focusing on the technology that goes into making a space efficient without forgoing style.

In addition, consumers want to see less on their kitchen counters and more storage space in their cabinets. Many are setting the goal of a clean, organized living space that is beautiful and practical. Clients want kitchens that are “more about good storage and space planning,” according to one designer respondent for the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) Kitchen & Bath Style Report. Another commented that there is “a general move toward simplicity in style, minimal color, but maximizing the features and storage.”

Blum introduces its new sleek and elegant LEGRABOX drawer system. Its straight lines give the drawer a sleek and elegant look. The drawer is beautiful and functional. LEGRABOX is equipped with an innovative runner system to increase its performance even under heavy loads, what Blum calls “elegance in motion.” The drawer is notably slim to maximize the storage space inside. Blum will also launch AMBIA-LINE, a new drawer organization system specifically designed for the LEGRABOX.

According to the 2014 NKBA Report, eight out of 10 designers specified glass doors last year, and 56% are expected to do more throughout 2014. With functionality and accessibility setting the tone, cabinet makers are taking the focus farther, perfecting soft-close mechanics and the opportunity to introduce varied materials.

Rev-A-Shelf is combining organization, beauty and long-term quality with the introduction of their 448KB Series Organizer with Blumotion soft-close. Equipped with two knife inserts, shelf storage, a stainless steel utensil bin, and an adjustable top shelf, the 448KB Series Organizer maximizes storage space in kitchen cabinets. The unit comes with OXO containers designed to fit in the bases of both shelves. Rev-A-Shelf’s full extension organizer allows the user to have full visibility and accessibility.

Sugatsune is also incorporating soft-close technology in their launch of the ELAN Series. The new Sugatsune line includes free stay and lift assist, providing ease for every user. The ELAN Series is ideal for vertical lift up doors which also makes the series universally usable. The larger the doors, the heavier they are, but lift assist technology does the heavy lifting for the user.

To bring the latest in features and performance, cabinet makers are taking their focus inside the cabinet. Slim design, functional organization and soft-close hardware have become the standard in kitchen design. You can test the latest advancements in cabinetry technology at KBIS 2015, January 20-22, in Las Vegas.
