NikolaTesla Combines the Functions of a Cooktop and Hood into One Single Product

FABRIANO, ITALY – As part of the new Air Cooking series, Elica—the global leader in kitchen ventilation hoods—unveils NikolaTesla as its first aspirating induction cooktop. It combines the functionality of two home appliances (cooktop and hood) into one product, eliminating the need for a range hood and providing a clean and simple design aesthetic.

“At Elica, we use the most advanced technology in the industry coupled with Italian design to create elegant and innovative appliances,” said Francesco Casoli, Elica President and Chairman. “The new NikolaTesla revolutionizes the kitchen space by replacing the range hood with a ventilation system that is conveniently built into the induction cooktop itself.”

This 33-inch smart induction cooktop features sleek black glass and futuristic touch controls, as well as an innovative ventilation system that senses the cooking level of each burner and automatically adjusts the blower speed to achieve optimum ventilating performance and maximum energy efficiency. The 400 cubic feet per minute (CFM) blower delivers the highest suction speed and performance of all-in-one products on the market, without elevating the hood body above the cooking surface and disrupting cooking flexibility. The blowers central location provides equal access to all burners, which increases air capture efficiency and reduces sound. NikolaTesla also includes a double bridge function that allows for two adjacent cooking zones to combine, so that large sized pots can be used.

The cooktop is named after the renowned physicist and electrical engineer, Nikola Tesla, because the rapidly oscillating magnetic fields that power induction cooking are driven by alternating electric current, which Tesla helped pioneer.

In addition to NikolaTesla, the Air Cooking series also includes a selection of induction cooktops and range hoods equipped with wireless sensor technology that enable the hoods to operate completely automatically.
