Bostik to unveil new branding, new products and new energies for 2014

Feb 5, 2014

Bostik, Inc. (bostik-us.com), one of the world’s largest manufacturers of adhesives and sealants, has officially launched its new brand identity, revolutionary adhesive technology and cutting-edge product enhancements for 2014.

“In many ways, this year will be transformative for our company,” said Mike Jenkins, Business Director for Bostik’s Consumer & Construction Business Unit. “Not only will it mark the global debut of our new brand, but we’ll be introducing many new and improved products that reinforce our position as the industry’s technological leader.”

Bostik’s new corporate logo features a gecko, a creature capable of sticking to almost any surface at any angle… with a remarkably strong bond. The firm also has a new tagline, “Smart Adhesives,” reflecting its ongoing commitment to develop functional, efficient, innovative and sustainable adhesive solutions.

After a comprehensive R & D program, Axios™ Tri-Linking™ Polymer Technology, a breakthrough in adhesion science raising the standard for single-solution hardwood adhesives, debuts this year, and consumers will discover how this state-of-the-art technology improves overall bond strength, moisture protection and sound reduction. Axios™ Tri-Linking™ Polymer Technology is easy-to-clean from prefinished hardwood flooring, both before and after curing. It is offered in two product formulations:

• Ultra-Set SingleStep2™ is a high-performance adhesive, moisture control and sound reduction membrane all in one. It contains SoundGuard™ sound reduction barrier that outperforms quarter-inch-thick cork underlayment. It also contains Bostik’s patent-pending Thickness Control™ Spacer Technology, ensuring proper membrane thickness between hardwood flooring and substrate.

• GreenForce™ delivers the superior bonding, unlimited moisture vapor protection and ease of cleaning (before and after curing) offered by Axios™ technology. Priced lower because it does not include Thickness Control™ Spacer Technology or SoundGuard™ sound reduction capabilities, this makes GreenForce™ ideal for jobs where sound reduction and membrane thickness control aren’t primary considerations.

Bostik has also released two new and improved urethane grout formulations in 2014.

TruColor™ RapidCure™ Premium, Pre-Mixed, Urethane Grout is a water-based grout offering optimal color accuracy, water resistance and stain/crack protection. This breakthrough formulation installs up to 50% faster than traditional grouts and never needs to be sealed. It has been approved for intermittent water exposure after only three days of curing… and, full water submersion after just 7 days of curing.

Dimension™ RapidCure™ Glass-Filled, Pre-Mixed, Urethane Grout is a patented, reflective, water-based urethane grout also approved for intermittent water exposure after only three days of curing. Dimension™ RapidCure™ contains micro-glass beads and a translucent, urethane binder which capture and reflect light, uniquely enhancing the final beauty of any tile project. Offered with lifetime stain resistance, superior crack resistance and built-in urethane sealer technology, Dimension™ RapidCure™ contains Bostik’s Blockade® antimicrobial protection, which inhibits growth of bacteria, mold and mildew on the surface of cured grout, enabling it to resist stains caused by mold.

“Both TruColor™ RapidCure™ and Dimension™ RapidCure™ grouts exemplify our commitment to take our best products and make them even better,” said Scott Banda, Director of Marketing for Bostik’s Consumer and Construction Business Unit. “Through these enhancements, Bostik continues its leadership in the premium segment of the mixed grout category.”

Bostik Glass-Mate™, a premium, polymer-modified, thinset mortar which offers superior bond strength, durability, non-sag properties and workability, will be introduced at Surfaces 2014, as well. When combined with Bostik’s Dimension™ grout, the bright-white mortar is part of a complete, high-performance system for installing glass – including both individual tiles and sheet-mounted mosaics.

Regarding resilient flooring adhesives, Eric Kurtz, Bostik’s Market Manager – Hardwood & Soft Flooring Systems, stated, “Bostik will be showing multiple applications at various price points at the show; we’ll have something for everyone in resilient flooring!” Kurtz added that three new products in the resilient segment will be introduced at the exposition.

First is GreenFusion2™, a high-end, high-performance urethane adhesive ideal for many soft flooring materials, in particular rubber floors. This heavy rolling load adhesive is suitable for both interior and exterior applications and offers superior shear strength.

PowerElastic™, a water-based acrylic previously available in Europe, is now being introduced to North America. This ultra-premium resilient adhesive offers a sheer strength 3X stronger than its competition, and can be used on many materials, including LVT, VCT, linoleum, cork, rubber and even olefin-backed flooring. So effective is the initial grab, PowerElastic™ is also appropriate for vertical applications. A true ultra-premium solution, PowerElastic™ is suitable for any commercial project.

Bostik will also introduce LVT-Lock™. This mid-range solution offers extreme versatility of applications and performance (including resistance to plasticizer migration) at a very competitive price point. For resilient flooring projects where budget and versatility are prime considerations, LVT-Lock™ is an excellent option.

All new products– from Axios™ Tri-Linking™ Polymer Technology and the RapidCure™ urethane grouts, to Glass-Mate™ and all the resilient/soft flooring adhesives – may contribute to obtaining USGBC LEED® Credits. Bostik has an unyielding commitment to provide industry-leading, smart adhesives meeting the economic and installation needs of the marketplace, while advancing material science in ways that contribute to a sustainable future.
