Paving the way for transatlantic trade at KBIS 2024
The Bathroom Manufacturers Association (BMA), the leading trade body for manufacturing businesses in the UK bathroom market, is set to play a pivotal role in facilitating transatlantic trade between British and American bathroom brands at the upcoming Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) 2024. With a focus on sustainability, raising standards, and understanding and growing the market, the BMA is dedicated to fostering collaboration and growth within the industry.
Having attended KBIS for several years, the BMA is thrilled to announce its continued collaboration with the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA). This partnership has secured prime exhibition space at KBIS 2024 for five UK companies adjacent to the Global Connect Pavilion with an overall “tradition of innovation” theme.
British manufacturers have played a pivotal role in shaping the global sanitary ware industry, leaving an indelible mark on the evolution of bathroom design. The roots of this legacy can be traced back to the 18th century when the UK emerged as a hub for pioneering craftsmanship in ceramics and plumbing. Noteworthy milestones include the first UK patent for a flushing toilet in 1775 and the first bathroom showroom opened by Thomas Crapper in 1866. Fast forward to the 21st century, and British manufacturers continue to lead the charge, seamlessly blending tradition with cutting-edge technology.
The UK pavilion at KBIS will honour traditional designs with Fitzroy of London (global experts of luxury accessible bathrooms), Croft and Assinder (handles and decorative hardware experts), and Thomas Crapper (authentic hand-made British bathroom accessories). With Zuma (smart lighting and sound technologies) and Senstec (anti-slip shower tray technology), modern innovation will also be offered.
Transatlantic collaboration at KBIS 2024
The BMA has always championed global connections within the bathroom sector, recognising the globalisation of the industry and the American market’s eagerness to embrace British design. With a strong commitment to facilitating transatlantic trade, the show’s first UK pavilion is poised to make an impact at KBIS 2024. The association looks forward to fostering collaboration, sharing industry expertise, and exploring new opportunities for growth and innovation between businesses on both sides of the pond.
The BMA, representing the backbone of UK bathroom manufacturing, collaborates with industry stakeholders, government bodies, and consumers to address critical issues affecting the sector. The association’s core mission is to ensure the growth and resilience of leading manufacturers, and it actively pursues this mission through its three key focus areas.
Reducing environmental impact
Sustainability issues and reducing our environmental impact are critical BMA initiatives. The association recognises the importance of environmental responsibility, and its members are already implementing measures to improve their green credentials. The BMA is committed to supporting these efforts and guiding manufacturers in advancing water efficiency, waste reduction, ESG initiatives, and reducing overall environmental impact.
Raising standards
The BMA understands the significance of product compliance in maintaining consumer safety and satisfaction. While its members invest substantial resources to adhere to international standards and national regulations, the association recognises that not all companies follow suit. The BMA is on a mission to enhance product compliance across the UK marketplace, ensuring consumers receive products that meet the highest quality and safety standards.
Understanding and growing the market
In an ever-evolving economic landscape, the BMA consistently provides insights into how economic factors impact the bathroom sector. By sharing this knowledge, the association empowers its members to navigate challenges and seize opportunities for sustained growth. The BMA is committed to fostering an environment conducive to the expansion of the bathroom market, both domestically and internationally.
