Award winning architect Dan Brunn, AIA, Principal of Dan Brunn Architecture, has joined forces with Caesarstone to create the interactive booth at the upcoming Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) 2016 in Las Vegas.

Over the course of the show, Caesarstone will celebrate its newest colors throughout the space along with a media bar, informative presentations, a full kitchen featuring a chef and barista, meeting spaces and much more in the masterfully designed booth. Caesarstone will continue its long-standing partnership with BSH and feature Thermador kitchen appliances throughout the space.

Show attendees can see the new and innovative Caesarstone colors at KBIS from January 19-21, 2016 during Design & Construction Week, but until then, Brunn gives exclusive insight into his booth design below.   1. Describe the Caesarstone booth you have designed for KBIS 2016.

The design intent is to showcase Caesarstone slabs in a new and evocative way, and to celebrate the newest colors.  2016 marks the launch of new colors and textures, so I wanted the design to showcase the product on a large scale. There are large 4′ x 8′ panel walls that fan out on the main circulation artery of the exhibition space. The entire space is weaved together with fluid dynamism. Curving walls undulate and turn to form individual spaces within the 3,000-square-foot area.

The spaces are:

  • Cafe / Bar–a built-in coffee machine area, featuring a barista and bartender. It includes a full kitchen showcase.
  • Cooking Kitchen–a working cooking area to invite a chef.
  • Lounge–a sofa area for casual meetings.
  • One to One–an area for dealers and product reps to sit down with clients and vendors for casual talk.
  • Media Bar–a long 12′ table with laptops and iPads to sit and display digital galleries. Behind is a TV Panel wall with touch display.
  • Concetto Gallery–an intimate gallery space, showcasing the semi-precious line. Slabs are hung on the wall and backlit.

  1. What was your inspiration for the space?

Displaying the new colors in an innovative way was my inspiration. I wanted the stone to appear lightweight and really showcase the celebration of new colors. This booth is unconventional by having a core surrounded by a delineated boundary. I wanted to create a unique façade for each of the four sides.  Typical booths are more open and don’t create a strong visual presence, instead, they act more like a bazar or simple product display. I wanted to create separate spaces and a strong visual image for the brand.  Something people will photograph and remember.

  1. What is one of your favorite highlights of the booth space?

One of my favorite highlights is the panel display and fluid walls.  Also, the unique experience of walking around the booth, and then entering to experience the product and space.

  1. What do you want visitors to take away from visiting the booth?

I’d want visitors to remember the booth’s visual impact and hopefully, have a tactical memory of the product within the space.  I think the design elements beg to be touched.

  1. How have you worked with Caesarstone before?

I’ve had a relationship with Caesarstone for nearly a decade.  I designed their award-winning flagship showroom in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2007 and also a few of their offices throughout the country.  Now, we’re working on their distribution centers in Chicago and New Jersey.
